Athens & Sparta

Athens & Sparta covers the Second Peloponnesian war, Only Athens and Sparta are playable. There are also five small neutral regimes.

Potidea joined the Delian League and later Athenian control. Corinth sought to recover her colony in 432, occupying the city, provoking the war. The game starts with Potidea under siege and blockade by Athenian forces. Potidea is located on the Gulf of Therma and has no access to the Gulf of Torona.

This scenario is loosely based on the Boardgame with the same name.

  • Players: 1-2. Athens and Sparta are playable but there are also the minor powers of Syracuse, Crete, Argos, Thracia and Macedonia on the map.
  • AI Capable: Difficult to say.
  • Engine: ATG
  • Evens & Variants: No events or variants but some special rules, for example there is no supply in the game.
  • Production & Research: Normal production.
  • Scale: Map size is 15*16. Each hex is approximatly 30 miles, each SFT represents ca 100 men or 2 tiremes.

    Ancient Greece





This is a small tactical scenario simulating the battle of Cannae in 216 BC between a Carthaginian army led by the legendary Hannibal Barcas and a roman army led by the two consuls Varro and Pattullus.

  • Players: 1-2
  • Ai Capable: Yes.
  • Events: None.
  • Production; None.
  • Scale: Tactical. Units are on a phalanx/kohort level. Map size 39*27. Scenario lasts a maximum of 11 rounds.

The Battle of Lake Trasimene (June 24th, 217 BC, April on the julian calender) was a Roman defeat in the Second Punic War between the Carthaginians under Hannibal and the Romans under the consul Gaius Flaminius. The battle is perhaps one of the largest and most successful ambushes in military history.

  • AI Capable: Yes, should be.
  • Engine: AT.
  • Events: None.
  • Production: None.
  • Scale: Tactical. Units are on a phalanx level. The scenario lasts five rounds and whomever has inflicted most casualties on the opposite side win. Map size 18*12.

This is a strategic scenario covering the first Punic War between Carthage and Rome between 264-241 BC. The war was fought mainly in Sicily and Africa, but was also a naval war.

  • Players: 1-3. Carthage, Rome & Syracuse (Syracuse is to small to play as human).
  • AI Capable: Yes.
  • Engine: AT.
  • Events: There are some political elements. Not many static events, but a lot of changes to the rules. The focus on the scenario is to recreate the style of ancient wargaming. Campaigns will be dangerous, attrition high, cities difficult to conquer with lots of siege action. Armies will be large but with low counter density. Events include storms at sea, attrition in mountainous and desert landscapes, political disorder, drought, mercenary desertions etc.
  • Production. Conventional production but limited by manpower, except for mercenaries.
  • Scale: Strategic with legion/phalanx sized units. Each round represents 6 months of fighting and the scenario lasts 23 years. Map size 65*59.
